Suspension Forks
Used primarily for Cross Country racing, endurance racing, climbing, and smooth to medium technical trail riding. These forks range in travel from 80 to 120mm (3 to 4.75 inches) and are the lightest in weight.
“Trail” category forks are designed for medium to rough trail conditions that have both uphill and fast downhill sections. A Trail fork should handle all possible conditions found in a full day of riding. Fork travel ranges from 120 to 140mm (4.75 to 5.5 inches). Trail category forks will be more stiff than cross country forks but will also be slightly heavier.
The All Mountain category is very similar to the Trail category in that your fork should address all riding conditions found in a full days ride but favors bigger hits and descending over climbing. Travel range for this category is 130 to 160mm (5 to 6.25 inches).
